VERYVERY IMPORTANT DO NOT DRIVE UP THE ROAD NEXT TO THE PUB OUR ENTRANCE IS NEXT TO THE PUB NOT BEHIND THE PUB

...You'll see The Globe pub on the left and Looe Train Station on your right. The entrance to the hotel is immediately after the pub. However, the turn into the driveway is quite difficult from this direction, so continue along for 100 metres, then make a U-turn at the petrol station and approach the drive from the opposite direction. The hotel is at the top of the driveway.

This years regatta will see boats from all over the south west and beyond return to the town. There will hopefully be some from Brittany including the 115ft long La Nebuleuse, formerly a post war Bay of Biscay tuna fishing boat.  It will also see the first appearance in Looe of the Grayhound, a replica of an 18th century revenue lugger that was built in nearby Millbrook and launched last August. http://grayhoundluggersailing.com/history Boats will start arriving on Thursday 13th June. For more information on times etc contact Looe Tourist Information Centre or go to www.looeguide.co.uk

Some background information about the regatta..

The Looe Lugger Regatta was re-started back in 1989 by a group of boat owners keen to re-establish something that had been a mainstay of Looe’s events calendar back in the days of sail when huge fleets of these craft worked the Cornish coast catching pilchards.

The name lugger comes from the set up of the sails named lugsails.

Names of Luggers built in Looe.  Guide Me, Our Boys, Our Girls, Our Daddy, Lindy Lou, White Heather, Iris, Kathleen, Shamrock, Talisman.
